Artist aleXsandro Palombo imagines Homer Simpson as Pablo Escobar and El Chapo
“Stop The Drug War”
The artist and activist aleXsandro Palombo has created a new series transforming Homer Simpson as Pablo Escobar and Joaquín Guzmán Loera, aka El Chapo, two of the most powerful drug traffickers in history, two loathed men, true, but so loved by their fellow citizens to be considered and venerated as idols. And again between the figures portrayed: Bart Simpson and the United States President Barack Obama.
Palombo draws attention on two topical social issues:
"Drug War" that has caused more than 60,000 deaths only in Mexico in recent years and "Legalization of Drugs" a topic that has always divided public opinion but is now turning into a major trend thanks to countries such as Uruguay, Colorado and Washington.
"Pablo Escobar was a ruthless drug dealer responsible for the massacres of his fellow civilians and officers, but he was also a drug trafficker that was in favor of drug legalization, and his idea was prophetic. If, 30 years ago, the institutions of various countries would have taken the path of the drug legalization, would have there been all that blood shed and a drug dealer as powerful as El Chapo today?”
